Tāmaki Makaurau electorate
Tāmaki Makaurau is currently represented by Labour's Peeni Henare, who won comfortably with a margin of 3,809. In 2017, Labour won the largest share of Tāmaki Makaurau's party votes – 60% to the Māori Party's 11%. Boundary changes this year mean the electorate now includes Waiheke Island, and areas around Te Atatū South and east of Manurewa. Formed in 2002, the electorate was held by John Tamihere and Dr Pita Sharples before Henare won in 2017.

My local priorities
Green Party's poverty action plan and a guaranteed minimum income of $325 for everyone not in full-time paid employment. Massively increase public housing so everyone can have a warm, dry, affordable, secure home and put down roots. Taking strong climate action so our future generations have a stable climate to live in. Why I’m running
Being co-leader of the Green Party is one of the biggest honours and toughest jobs I have ever had! I want to continue being a political voice for our country because the world needs the vision, solutions and pathways that the Green Party has to offer to the world. I have seen first-hand how the environmental, social/cultural and economic issues we face are all inter-connected and I am getting better and better at telling that story and putting up the smart solutions.About me
I am privileged to have grown up in rural Aotearoa on my Hokianga homeland as well as in cities across the country. For most of the past 27 years I have lived in South Auckland with my family: my husband Paul and I have six children, three children in-laws, one very special baby mokopuna and one dog who lovingly rescued us. My paid and unpaid work has been in human rights advocacy, youth work, community development and social and environmental activism.Party list rank
