Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to be a voice for the voiceless in Dunedin. Ōtepoti is a wonderful place to live for most of its residents, but there are a significant number of people in our city who only survive and not thrive. I want us to create a city where everyone can flourish!

About me

I am a trained youth pastor, secondary school teacher and mental health support worker, but it's governance roles that really spin my wheels! I have been on the Dunedin Kindergartens' Board since 2006 and been the chairperson since 2012. I have also had governance roles with Baptist Youth Ministries (Aotearoa), Caversham Baptist Church and the Straight Up Trust.

My priorities
  1. Work with community housing organisations to provide secure housing for vulnerable families.
  2. Explore ways to find work for everyone who wants it and tap into government funding to initiate it.
  3. Create a safe and liveable city for every resident and those who come to study or visit here.
