Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai/Lower Hutt Constituency
The Greater Wellington Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 13 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Three councillors will be elected from the Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai/Lower Hutt constituency. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am motivated to serve my community in a new way, having led community groups working with regional council on areas such as water quality, biodiversity, climate change, and parks and recreation. As a father of primary school age children, I consider the decisions of today to be the legacy we leave them. I want them to inherit a stable climate, quality public transport, clean water and thriving nature.

I lead community groups 'walking the talk' by cleaning-up and restoring our streams and forests. I have worked at the cutting edge of environment and climate policy and science for two decades.
