Why I'm standing
I am motivated to stand because voter turnout in recent local government elections has been abysmal. This dishonours the sacrifices made by those who came before us who fought for our right to vote. Council can do more to engage and listen to the community, so that voters feel that it is worthwhile participating in local democracy. This will be my mission. About me
East Coast Bays is my hometown and I have the best interests of this area and people at heart. Others describe me as a patient listener and a good communicator. My degree from Lincoln University focussed significantly on policy analysis, which will serve me well in my job as your advocate. As a local business owner, I have proven management skills. I have previously worked in eco-tourism involving ecological restoration projects around the North Island.
My priorities
- Listen to you, so that your needs and ideas are heard. I'll hold drop-in sessions, locally and online.
- Represent your views within council, so that you feel heard and included in local decisions.
- Keep you informed, so that you feel involved and can hold council accountable.
