Hutt City Council

Hutt City At Large
The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the six councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Hutt City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running because I am sick and tired of councils putting things in the wrong places, or not building them correctly in the first place. I believe you can't keep the rates low and also improve the infrastructure effectively.

About me

I was a postie for over 15 years and know the streets and roads better than most. I am a member of Grey Power. I was the secretary of the Lower Hutt Caring Community Co-ordinating Committee for five years. I am involved in many community groups and have been for my whole life.

My priorities
  1. Correct the roading mistakes made by previous councils, such as with the bridges and roads.
  2. Meet as many people as possible in my role, to listen to their problems and investigate solutions.
  3. Ensure that the infrastructure is fit for purpose going forward.
