Nelson City Council

Central General Ward
The Nelson City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Four councillors will be elected from the Central General ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Nelson City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I love Nelson. It is an amazing place that has provided me with many opportunities growing up. I now wish to give back to the city that gave me so much by working hard to support the needs of our community and their well-being. I want to advocate for Nelson and ensure all Nelsonians now and in the future can enjoy, contribute, and be proud of their city.

About me

After a lifelong connection with the Nelson Community, being a youth councillor, raising our family and working at a small local business for 10 years I have a good understanding of our diverse population and its needs. I aim to bring a fresh perspective along with my strengths of teamwork, communication, empathy and tenacity to work together at the council table ensuring the best outcomes for our citizens.

My priorities
  1. Ensure substantive, accessible and wide reaching community engagement and ratepayer feedback.
  2. Work to see the council join with the business sector in matters that affect local economy.
  3. Advocate for families and youth, ensuring spaces, services and events that support their needs.
