Oraka Aparima Community Board

The Oraka Aparima Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Southland District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: six members elected by voters, and one councillor from the Southland District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I'm standing for community board because I'm passionate about this region and I want to advocate for our community and environment. I believe we are incredibly lucky to live here, but not without our challenges. I'm motivated by a desire to help the community and our beautiful environment.

About me

I have project experience and am used to working collaboratively with a broad range of people. While I get along with anyone, I'm not scared to speak up, or disagree, when needed. As a community advocate, I will be fair and firm. I'm no stranger to physical labour, nor research, reports and consultation. Working in a communications team for many years has given me an understanding of information channels and the importance of good outreach.
