Why I'm standing
Being Rotorua born and raised, I'm passionate about our community and the wondrous natural environment which we all share. Over the last three years, I have become increasingly alarmed by the direction the current council has taken, especially in terms of the behind-closed-doors decisions that have led to the dire situation we now face. I am determined to restore Rotorua's mana and regain the trust and esteem of our residents and visitors.
About me
I have a deep love for Rotorua and its people. With more than 30 years experience in media and the events/sports industry, I have gained valuable skills in relationship building, people management, funding acquisition, project/event management and working with budgets. By serving on committees, and working with many, I have developed strong negotiating skills which will be an essential asset when representing the wishes of our community as a councillor.
My priorities
- Enforce the district plan to end the use of motels as emergency housing facilities.
- Withdraw support for the proposed Reserves Revocation Bill and reinstate their reserve status
- Remove the WSARP proposal from the long term plan and renew the lease of the Springfield Golf Course.
