Rotorua Lakes Community Board

The Rotorua Lakes Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Rotorua District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one councillor from the Rotorua District Council. There will be no election this year because there are the same number of candidates as there are positions. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Rotorua Lakes Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

Rotorua is my home. It is a fantastic place live, but there are key issues at crisis point. My drivers are putting the environment at forefront of our thinking, so we have healthy thriving people and an economy that is sustainable. I have always held the belief that I can't change the world but I can change the world around me. Change needs to happen now and I hope to support a positive new direction.

About me

Proudly born in Rotorua and raised my whānau here. My working life has been in education, youth development and social services, tourism, advocacy, and owning and developing two businesses. I have served on the Rotorua Lakes Community Board for six years (current deputy chair), representing Rotorua Lakes Community on Te Maru o Kaituna and other such boards. All the above has built a strong commitment to Rotorua and the skills to provide leadership, problem solving and a positive mindset.

My priorities
  1. Clear plans around climate change mitigation that are actionable and have defined outcomes.
  2. Develop housing strategies and solutions that create housing opportunities for all of our people.
  3. Improve local infrastructure to deal with extreme weather events and how we travel around the city.
