Mayor of Selwyn

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Selwyn District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I am running to ensure public consultation leads to local decisions, for example no to Three Waters?

About me

I am a construction engineer who has worked on major projects for over 40 years. Including Te Kaha and Lincoln University. I can bring this experience to support Selwyn's new facilities.

My priorities
  1. Allow the community to make its own informed decisions regarding the Three Waters legislation.
  2. Ensure that we implement the Rolleston flyover right first time and that it is future proof.
  3. Sustainable housing development to support our districts growth.
