Why I'm standing

The next three years in local government will be challenging as councils throughout Aotearoa face ongoing erosion of their ability to respond locally to local need. Now more than ever, experience, pragmatism, and strategic dexterity should be an option for communities who wish to retain direct and responsive links with decision-makers to consider. That is what I offer.

About me

Experience. Former five term mayor of South Taranaki District (chose not to seek re-election), previous governance roles in the education, health, philanthropic and not for profit sectors including TSB Community Trust and Lotteries Commission. A commitment to being prepared and understanding all sides of an issue. Ability to listen and ensure all voices are heard.

My priorities
  1. Responding to local issues locally. The ability to do this is being steadily eroded.
  2. Ensuring all voices are heard. Often those with the most wisdom are also the most overlooked.
  3. Celebrating and encouraging innovation because that is where the best solutions are often found.
