Why I'm standing

This is our home and I care deeply about people's welfare and well-being. My vision is community focused and at the heart is the people. A district that doesn't lose "what makes it feel right" and empowers residents to be engaged, participate, succeed and grow. I stand for a council that delivers projects and programmes and sets policies that make the district a rewarding place to live, work, play and grow old together.

About me

I have always been actively involved in the community, from cub leader, rugby coach, committees, and school board of trustees chair. My leadership and governance skills have developed from my 20 year involvement in NZ Young Farmers, including national president and national finalist in the Young Farmer Contest. I have had experience as a councillor in local government and understand the workings, responsibilities and duties of council. I have a common-sense approach to governance and get things done.

My priorities
  1. Oppose central government reforms the take the local voice away from decision-making and outcomes.
  2. Manage growth and development but also care for natural beauty and outstanding landscapes.
  3. Empower residents and their communities to have a sense of belonging and a safe and caring hometown.
