New Zealanders deserve a country where they can afford to pay for housing. But housing in New Zealand is among the most expensive in the world, and the big parties aren't doing nearly enough to change that. I'm standing to go hard on increasing the amount of houses available for people, so that there's money left over after the rent or the mortgage is paid to live well and participate in our communities.
I will bring the qualities of a good scientist to our parliament - the analytical approach to understand problems, the curiosity to find solutions, and the rigour to test and prove our approaches, and change them if they're not working. But I also bring the experience of a mediator necessary to learn and understand people's positions, respect their mana, and take responsibility for decisions parliament will make.
