Auckland Council

Howick Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running for Auckland Council to improve how our city is run. I love our city and Auckland deserves a more ambitious, disciplined and diverse council. Significant change is happening across Auckland, and we need leadership that can manage and drive the transformation council so desperately needs. I've spoken to countless residents, business owners and community leaders who are frustrated with the lack of vision, progress and accountability that is holding our city back.

About me

I've lived and worked in Auckland my entire life. I've lived across Auckland and now call Botany my home where I live with my partner who grew up here. I'm a business improvement expert with over a decade in experience with both commercial and community organisations. I firmly believe that my skills in business improvement, combined with my governance experience and passion for my community is what is needed to move our city forward.

My priorities
  1. Delivering public transport that provides choice and less emissions – frequent, accessible and reliable.
  2. Driving accountability through council to lift performance, reduce waste and improve outcomes.
  3. Ensuring council delivers housing intensification done well through planning and design standards.
