The Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Far North District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members: seven members elected by voters, including one member from your area, and one councillor from the Far North District council. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. As the current Chair of Taumatamakuku, I believe I have a part to play on the team in the advocacy that relates to the betterment and advancement of our community as a whole in a time where the nation begins to build back better.

About me

I am a hard working, well known representative of the haapori Maaori who has built strong relationships with council and wider sectors that fit well in this dynamic.

My priorities
  1. Te Whakanui a Taumatamakuku. Delivering the three stage plan in time for the 75th Diamond Jubilee.
  2. Road safety. Matawaia Transport Infrastructure development and upgrade.
  3. Community-led initiatives. Community managed, sustainable environmental solutions.
