Mayor of Carterton

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I'm driven to stand for re-election as Mayor because I believe Wairarapa and specifically Carterton District reflects the essence of kiwi living. I'm inspired by our communities aspirations and see the privileged role as Mayor as the ultimate enabler.

About me

I have over 25 years of driving community initatives, 30 years as a business owner and 9 years as an elected member (3 as mayor). Combine this with an enthusiastic passion and a history of making a difference I'm primed for a second term as Mayor of Carterton District.

My priorities
  1. Leading a team that interacts, listens and runs good processes to realise community aspirations.
  2. Front footing change to get the best out of central government reforms.
  3. Building key relationships locally and regionally to get the best combined expertise and advocacy.
