Central Hawke's Bay District Council

Aramoana-Ruahine Ward
The Central Hawke's Bay District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of eight councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Aramoana-Ruahine ward. There will be no election this year because there are the same number of candidates as there are positions. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Central Hawke's Bay District Council election.

Strengthening our rural communities

| Aramoana-Ruahine Ward councillor for CHB District Council

Why I'm standing

I believe in spirit of service and want to continue to give back to my community. The council has been heading in the right direction for two terms and I want to stay there to make sure we keep up the momentum. I'm dedicated to being a strong rural voice. My aim is doing the basics well to keep the district healthy and prosperous, and building on the current council's transparent and proactive nature.

About me

My common sense, basic approach to good governance leads to better, more ethical decision making and I believe using the collective strengths of those around a governance table helps to meet communities' expectations and strengthen their resilience. My core values include honesty, integrity and respect and giving service to my community. Reputation is important to me – both my own and the organisations I represent. My strengths include communication, positivity, advocacy and inclusion.

My priorities
  1. Making sure Central Hawkes Bay stays a great, affordable place to live – both for locals and new people.
  2. Improving the standards of our own roads and lobbying Waka Kotahi about our state highways.
  3. Removing wastewater from our awa.
