Vincent Ward
The Central Otago District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Five councillors will be elected from the Vincent ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Water is a huge issue for the Vincent ward. I support the incredible work done by the rural community and thankful for the urban support.

    Promote a better understanding across the whole community about the steps we can all take to ensure recycling is done to a high standard

    Encourage and support new initiatives in the waste minimisation space.

  • Encourage biodiversity, with a special emphasis on native vegetation.

    Support the control of pests such as rabbits and possums.

    Seek to minimise the amount of nitrate leaching into waterways.

  • Lead by example, council to act as an exemplar for the community regarding pest management on our land.

    Adopt waste minimisation initiatives that can benefit both Central Otago and the wider region.

  • Pure water like air is an essential component of health. Secure, clean water and air is essential.

    Pest control. Individual landowner and council responsibilities to ensure control.

    Individual pushback to ensure less waste from all purchases.

  • Work towards a plan to plant native trees and plants on Central Otago District Council controlled land. Including the Half Mile, parks, green. spaces and berms.

    Ensure Central Otago District Council environmental policy is practical, realistic,and impactful. Drawing on sustainable, cost-effective modern technology.

    Work with the community and council to encourage greater participation with recycling and household waste reduction.
