Featherston Community Board

The Featherston Community Board represents your local community and advocates to South Wairarapa District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: four members elected by voters, and two councillors from the South Wairarapa District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Featherston Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I love living in Featherston and I believe we have a strong community that cares about each other. I wish to support this by lending my skills to the Community Board to make sure our needs are heard and that the council makes decisions that work for us too. Sometimes our voice just hasn't been loud enough. I can work as part of an effective group of local representatives for the good of our town.

About me

I care deeply for this town and I am strongly committed to local resilience. I have volunteered in many local roles (previously editor of the Featherston Phoenix, currently working for Good Bitches Baking, the foodbank and meals on wheels). I am a self-employed homeowner, student and stepmother, and I love to support local businesses, facilities and community causes. I am hardworking, capable and committed to the well-being of the people of Featherston.

My priorities
  1. Listen to the townspeople, ascertain their wants and needs, and work towards these on the board.
  2. Lobby the council for action on our stormwater problem and the condition of main street buildings.
  3. Work towards making our central business district more user-friendly for pedestrians, cyclists, shoppers and children.
