Gore District Council

Gore District At Large
The Gore District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the three councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Gore District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe I can make a positive difference for the district. I have a young family, and I want my children to grow up in a vibrant, healthy district that offers a range of services. The current course of council needs some correction – to get back to basics and reduce spending on nice-to-have projects while our infrastructure needs are not being met. I believe I can provide pragmatic and stable governance to achieve that.

About me

I will weigh up advice, consider evidence, hear from our communities, carry out my own research, and govern for the good of the community. I will bring business and farming experience to the table, along with an interest in technology, transition and seeking the best-available information. I am well connected in Gore, particularly in the rural community, and enjoy talking with people about what they believe is best for the district.

My priorities
  1. Get our district's roading sorted and up to scratch.
  2. Growth – open up more land for development, for both residential development and business.
  3. Attract more people to live here in the district, and in particular the younger generation.
