Why I'm standing

I'm standing because I am concerned that many young Hawke's Bay people do not have the opportunities I had after returning home from university. Many of my friends live outside of Hawke's Bay and would love to return. A lack of well-paid jobs and high house prices means that they cannot. Many will end up with their kids seeing their grandparents through video calls, rather than in person in Hawke's Bay.

About me

Because I bring a youthful, well-qualified and experienced perspective to council, that is currently not around the table. I have degrees in politics, economics and health science, five years of experience managing a farm and a forest, and three years on the Rural Community Board, standing up for our people. I'm really well connected to my community, my family has been farming here for over 100 years, and my mother is a local GP.

My priorities
  1. Ensuring value for rates, by focusing council on core services
  2. Protecting and upgrading our rural roads to meet the demands placed on them.
  3. Push for sensible legislation for carbon farming, to make sure our communities thrive
