Horizons Regional Council

Tonga Māori Constituency
The Horizons Regional Council is the regional council for the Manawatū-Whanganui region. It makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). One councillor will be elected from the Tonga Māori constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. About me

I have been in governance and management roles in local government and the public service. I have had a long time experience working with communities and iwi. Providing service to the community has been a lifetime commitment. I enjoy working with people and finding solutions.

My priorities
  1. Greater participation of Māori in local government.
  2. Greater partnership with iwi and hapū.
  3. Greater protection of the environment, especially in the face of climate change.
