Hutt City Council

Northern Ward
The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. One councillor will be elected from the Northern ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the city. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Recognise the key principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori values. Ensure strong engagement with mana whenua.

    Ensure continuation of the Living Wage agreement and all contractors selected to undertake council work pay the Living Wage as a minimum.

    Ensure that communities of interest such as disabled, pacifica, rainbow, immigrants, elderly and youth are communicated with in a meaningful way.
