Kaipara District Council

Kaiwaka-Mangawhai General Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Kaiwaka-Mangawhai ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.     Review all internal operations and staffing levels to ensure council can adequately deliver core services without wastage or excess cost.

    Remain absolutely focused on the things we can control locally to ensure council is best it can be in delivery of core services.

  • Ensure openness and transparency for the community to better understand the challenges, issues and opportunities facing our district.

    Encourage community engagement and feedback through easy to access (and complete!) surveys and forms.

    Investigate the high staff turnover, and identify what needs to change in order to retain and attract high quality staff and expertise.
