Mayor of New Plymouth

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the New Plymouth District Council mayoral election.

  • Public facilities like parks. Utilising our current parks, domains, beaches, clubs, open/closed Venues for more seasonal events.

Community events like festivals. Recognition, national and cultural events, holidays and festivals.

Sporting facilities. Dedication to supporting the Sports Hub within New Plymouth. Smaller clubs, find out their concerns and requirements.

  • I support the Tūparikino Active Community Hub as an inter-generational well-being facility. New Plymouth District Council should cap our contribution at $40 million.

I will continue to fully support the creative arts sector including World of Music, Arts and Dance, Festival of Lights events and festivals including Te Matatini 2025 bid planning.

I fully support New Plymouth District Council being a funding partner to Taranaki Foundation's Destination Play, the southern hemisphere's largest Destination Play project.

  • Sporting facilities. Finish Yarrow Stadium. Allow more use for public. Cricket at the park without a huge expense could be achieved.

Liquor license. I believe there should be better policing on this. Too many people are intoxicated on our streets. Better education.

Community events. All for this, once again giving the community input on what they want. I believe we can create something amazing together.
