Why I'm standing

I am standing for re-election to Northland Regional Council because I want all of us to have clean water, a healthy environment and better community participation in decision making. Northland is facing massive environmental challenges and we must save ratepayers from future financial risks. I have the skills and experience to meet these challenges.

About me

I have 40 years experience in biosecurity and biodiversity management, from field worker to director and international consultant, and have a long list of achievements in getting things done. I have also managed conservation organisations, cricket and rugby clubs, jazz club/festivals, etc. My three year term has taught me a lot about how to deal with the many environmental issues we face and how to prioritise actions.

My priorities
  1. Improve freshwater quality which is currently appalling, so that we can all drink and swim in it.
  2. Step up climate action, to protect the community from the many risks to our assets and lifestyles.
  3. Solve our regional transport issues – more buses, cycleways, trains. Lower truck wheel weights.
