Mayor of Selwyn

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Selwyn District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I love Selwyn, have led our council successfully for the past six years, and am passionate about continuing to serve our community.

About me

I like to work with others and find solutions to difficult problems. I have built strong networks within council to get things done and have a track record of listening and delivering for Selwyn. I work with trusted partners and other councils so that the big stuff can be achieved together. I look for the best in others and create enabling environments so that families and businesses can get on with what's important to them.

My priorities
  1. Continue long-term strategic planning for Selwyn communities.
  2. Lead through government reforms including Three Waters, RMA, and the Future for Local Government.
  3. Collaborate with mana whenua and neighbouring councils to ensure the best outcomes for Canterbury.
