Mayor of South Waikato

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I believe we need a younger voice that understands the changing needs of democracy.

About me

I have served on council for 6 years, I am the current chair of the Corporate and Regulatory committee, I am a successful business owner and a lawyer. I have the skills required to be mayor.

My priorities
  1. Encourage better use of ratepayer funds in all areas.
  2. Set up a youth council to encourage active participation in local democracy.
  3. Look at better community engagement and active partnerships.
