Why I'm standing

I am standing for Southland District Council because I believe we need to be doing a much better job at public engagement than is currently done. The coming changes with the Three Waters reforms and RMA rejig make it all the more crucial that constituents are kept better informed on relevant matters.

About me

I am a Southland local, having moved down from Waikato in 2015. Over the last two years, I've personally engaged both with the council over the long term plan and Three Waters reforms. With an accounting degree and a background in finance and farming, I can research meticulously, distil the key issues and ask the hard questions. Honesty and doing the right by the public ratepayers is what drives me.

My priorities
  1. Not back down over the shambles that is the Three Waters reforms, as it stands currently
  2. Enable genuine public engagement, not just a box-ticking exercise. RMA reforms must be transparent.
  3. Ensure 100% of rates collected from Southland are spent in Southland.
