Taranaki Coastal Community Board

The Taranaki Coastal Community Board represents your local community and advocates to South Taranaki District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one councillor from the South Taranaki District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Taranaki Coastal Community Board election.

Environment

Local governments play a central role in protecting the environment, reducing waste and safeguarding biodiversity. The worsening state of New Zealand’s lakes and rivers is a major challenge for local councils, which work with regional councils in the management of water resources in their area.

  • I advocate provision of good quality water for our community.

Protection of our biodiversity is important for the long-term health of our environment so this should be a priority.

Minimising waste is good for the community both ecologically and economically.
