Taupō District Council

Te Papamārearea Māori Ward
The Taupō District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Te Papamārearea Māori ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Taupō District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing to serve my whānau, my people in the Māori Ward. I want to represent them and help them live better lives here in Taupō. I see problems they have with lack of housing. I intend helping them out in this matter. I want to help then out in all aspects of life here in Taupō.

About me

I have worked in community projects most of my life, helping to resolve issues, helping to find solutions to otherwise awkward problems, helping to diffuse issues between parties and helping those that needed help. I like helping people, I am a people person. Educated in NZ with several disciplines, and always willing to learn more. Life is for giving of oneself, resulting in building the community around me.

My priorities
  1. Introduce an inclusive Papakainga Guideline that has proven itself in other parts of the country.
  2. Improve the interaction between prospective home builders and the building consent teams of council.
  3. Represent all Māori so their thoughts and plans for life in Taupō are what they expect them to be.
