The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Encourage and advocate for waste minimisation through better utilisation of kerbside bin collection (upsizing or downsizing bins).

    Work with community groups that encourage pest control and tree plantings.

  • Ensure safe drinking water across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

    Continue the waste and recycling education programme for Christchurch homes.

    Provide further resourcing to local environmental groups, empowering them to improve the natural environments in our neighbourhoods.

  • In opposition of chlorination of our water and the Three Waters reform program. In agreement for a better policy for managing our water.

    Commit the council to have a robust plan for recycling and dealing with the increasing amount of waste.

    Create an effective plan to deal with the increasing problem of rats and feral cats.
