Mayor of Whanganui

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Whanganui District Council mayoral election.

Leading Our Future

Why I'm standing

We need a new set of skills to lead our future that re-energises our people and reinvigorates the council table. There has been no conversation about our future – and we desperately need it.

About me

With a commercial and business background in large multi-national corporates and consulting firms plus down-to-earth farming upbringing, I get things done. I am a team-builder and collaborator.

My priorities
  1. Oppose Three Waters reform that retain our assets in local ownership and control.
  2. Engage with iwi to align their strategies with council for economic growth.
  3. Facilitate a series of community workshops to hear views on current and future needs.
