Hauraki-Waikato is a Māori electorate currently held by Labour's Nanaia Mahuta, who won comfortably with a margin of 9,660. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Hauraki-Waikato – 63% to Te Pāti Māori's 12%. The seat was established in 2008 and was previously called Tainui. Mahuta held Tainui since 2002 and Hauraki-Waikato since 2008.
