Coast Community Board

The Coast Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Ōpōtiki District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one member from the Ōpōtiki District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Coast Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

Manaaki ki te ao Manaaki ki te tangata Respect for the world Respect for humanity "I care about the place I call home, and I value honesty and strengthening our community."

About me

Born and raised on the coast, I returned to give back to the community that shaped me. I have led local, regional and national kaupapa for our communities that have promoted the arts, kapahaka, tikanga, and excellence in Māori dairy farming. This has taught me inclusive leadership and bringing diverse voices together. My local and central government experience provides invaluable insights into effective governance. I'm committed to governance that listens, plans strategically, and acts decisively.

My priorities
  1. Create preparedness and resilience for emergencies and natural disasters.
  2. Review policies to reduce red tape for our growing population of homeowners.
  3. Improve access to council services on the coast.
