Mayor of Gisborne
The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I am standing for re-election because I believe in Tairāwhiti's potential, and I am committed to ensuring we recover, grow, and thrive together. With experience, energy, and a deep love for our community, I will continue to lead with purpose—so that our region is not just surviving but flourishing.

I bring experience from both an academic and business background and want to lead a future-focussed council with a can-do attitude our residents can be proud of.
My priorities
- Lead council to be ready to pivot with new RMA and Local Water Done Well changes.
- Deliver quality core functions including roads, water, sewage and solid waste to the community.
- Collaborate with Trust Tairāwhiti, Gisborne Holdings and Eastland Group to align regional goals.
