Hastings-Havelock North General Ward
The Hastings District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). seven councillors will be elected from the Hastings-Havelock North ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Support local festivals, arts and cultural events that bring communities together without excessive ratepayer subsidies.

  • Establish or retain facilities or events that either break even or make profit.

  • Support maintaining facilities and consider new projects only with clear community and economic benefits.

  • Increase library offerings and ability to host community and fundraising events.

    Look for more opportunities to host sport events, club events and family gatherings.

    Support clubs and groups, which by definition represent the local community.

  • Investigate the possibility of using the Frimley Aquatic Centre space as an enhancement to the Rose Garden facility, including wedding parking.

    Throw support towards uniquely Hastings character events such as the Meatball Festival to build national profile and tourism opportunities.

    Support local schools with pools to encourage swim-safe education and fun and investigate how to make school pool operations easier to manage.
