Why I'm standing

Relationships with residents, industries and stakeholders are strained and need rebuilding. People cannot afford rising costs driven by council decisions, including future generations. Bureaucratic processes are slowing progress, with little effort to fix the system or improve outcomes. Resource consents face major delays, blocking positive investment. Short-sighted decisions will reduce the region's gross domestic product and therefore jobs in our region. I know how to make it work better so I'm standing for council.

About me

I have a degree in Resource and Environmental Planning (Massey University). I have 17 years' experience in policy, regulation and advocacy with strong roots in the primary sector and networks across regional, national and international levels. I deeply care about people and want people to thrive in this region (and country) while maintaining our natural resources. I am passionate about smarter resource management, long-term planning and building resilient systems that serve communities and industries alike.

My priorities
  1. Cut unnecessary spending and make sure the annual plan is fit for purpose and achievable.
  2. Advocate for core services without increasing rates and focus on what matters most.
  3. Ensure relationships with the community are rebuilt and a strong plan is put in place to deliver.
