Mayor of Lower Hutt

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Lower Hutt City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm running because I genuinely love this city and want to see it thrive. Lower Hutt is full of potential, but we need leadership that reconnects council with the community, rebuilds trust, and makes people feel heard. For me this is about future generations, I want my 11-year-old daughter to grow up in a city that is thriving, full of opportunity, and a place she'll always be proud to call home.

About me

I bring a mix of real-world business experience and six years on council, which means I know both how council works and the challenges people face day to day. I'm passionate about this community and have spent 20 years building businesses and relationships here. My leadership style is grounded in trust, transparency, and bringing people together to get things done.

My priorities
  1. Do the basics better by fixing core services so every rates dollar delivers real value.
  2. Boost Hutt businesses by backing local firms and start-ups to grow jobs and the economy.
  3. Build strong communities by funding local projects and events that connect people.
