The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. Why I'm standing
Kaipara is a great place to live but the last three years has seen many challenges in council. I have been motivated to stand for the mayoralty to provide positive change that restores unity, strengthens trust and focus on a thriving Kaipara.
About me
I have lived in the Kaipara for over 48 years and have been involved in the community for many decades in education, sport, marae, funding and conservation. Professionally I have been in governance roles and worked in senior and executive management positions for over 39 years.
My priorities
- Support equitable investment in reliable infrastructure to ensure growth benefits all communities.
- Advocate for fair, disciplined budgeting to keep rates affordable and resource sustainable growth.
- Rebuild trust with inclusive leadership that ensures all Kaipara communities are heard.
