Kaipara District Council
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Wairoa ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I am an experienced business banker and mentor who helped turn around many struggling commercial operations into profitable ones. I've a Bachelor of Commerce and MBA in Finance (McGill, Canada). I lead with integrity and fairness and will use those qualities in my term. I promise a transparent and responsible council which works for you; not against you!
My priorities
- Freeze the rates and focus on delayed capital projects to complete them at the earliest.
- Fix the roads and find affordable durable solutions through local knowledge, avoiding consultants.
- Provide a transparent council with no closed-door decisions and consultation with the public first.
