Mayor of Masterton

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Masterton District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I know and love Masterton; its people, places, and potential. I bring fresh energy, practical experience, and a track record of delivering results and I want to lead this district forward today and into our future. A Masterton that is vibrant, welcoming district where individuals and families thrive, businesses hum, local ideas grow and the next generation see their future here. A place full of opportunity, progress is people powered and potential is never wasted.

About me

As a current elected councillor with a full term under my belt, it's time to drive real progress. I've rolled up my sleeves as co-founder of Kim's Way Night Refuge, board chair at Lakeview School, and board member of Tupu Ana Business Masterton because building a better Masterton takes action.

My priorities
  1. Invest in water storage and resilience as imperative for sustainability and growth.
  2. Drive smarter spending and revenue growth, find efficiencies and investigate investment opportunities.
  3. Look at fairer roading rates for rural ratepayers, especially in high-impact areas like forestry.
