Otago Regional Council
The Otago Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 12 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). one councillor will be elected from the Moeraki constituency. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. About me
I am a listener, strong analytical skills, attention to detail and always willing to look at and understand alternatives. I demand 'value' for money and question the need for expenditure. I am a proven negotiator and team builder with six years of regional council, three years as a district councillor and decades of supporting our community. I have the drive and passion to build Otago to its best for all.
My priorities
- Drive environmental improvement through community action and not endless yap and reports.
- Lobby government to ensure Resource Management Act reforms simplify consenting, monitoring and enforcement processes.
- Ensure Otago Regional Council continues to improve, shows value for money and delivers positive environmental outcomes.
