Mayor of Palmerston North

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I am representing a marginalised group that no other council or mayoral candidate cares about, non-human animals. I have secondary concerns about justice for the environment and disadvantaged humans.

About me

I analyse environmental policy for a living. I am used to considering policies from all angles, asking advice, consulting, conducting research and making decisions based on values, science and what is best for the city long term.

My priorities
  1. Promote justice for animals including the plant based treaty.
  2. Promote justice for the environment including not just climate change but diversity loss, air and water pollution.
  3. Promote justice for disadvantaged humans.
