Utilities and services
Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Advocate for Rotorua district with upcoming water reform Local Water Done Well, ensuring sustainable solutions.
Cut landfill use to reduce Rotorua's carbon footprint and protect the environment.
Ensure compliance with Local Water Done Well reforms while safeguarding lakes and waterways.
Reject extra bin for food waste as too costly and unpractical for residents.
Review dog control with more benefits for responsible dog owners and provide extra dog parks where possible.
Enhance animal control services with timely response and promote responsible dog ownership on animal control and dog licensing.
Expand curbside recycling to include more materials and reduce landfill waste in rubbish and recycling.
