Waiau Aparima Ward
The Southland District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Waiau Aparima ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

As your local councillor my role is to ensure your voices are heard. That you get the best representation and you are kept informed. I strongly believe in accountable, transparent, honest leadership and good governance within local government. Continued focus on growth and securing Southland for Southlanders. I have local knowledge and the proven ability to see the bigger picture for the best outcomes for Southland.

About me

I offer a proven passion and commitment in governance, a robust ability to identify underlying issues, the skills and capability to recognise opportunities and offer viable solutions. With strong relationship skills, management and business background, I will deliver sound governance and commitment to enhance and grow our wider community. Seeking to pay it forward, representing Waiau Aparima. Being accountable to our ratepayers and community, getting the best value from council resources, eliminating waste and bureaucracy.

My priorities
  1. Moderate rates increases whilst ensuring infrastructure needs are prioritised to future proof Southland.
  2. Get a fairer share from national government from the tax take in Southland. We have 2% of the population and 15% of GDP.
  3. Strengthen community resilience.
