Warwick Peter Brooks

Chairperson Community Board

Why I'm standing

I am seeking re-election having served three terms on the community board. I believe there remains much to be achieved including more open consultation and involvement in local matters, fairer representation at council and opportunities to discuss concerns with staff within our communities.

About me

I have been a resident in Tairua for 58 years. I have been in business and know the area well. I have experienced the growing pains associated with development and the associated problems that inevitably occurred. I have served 12 years on the school committee, more than 40 years in the fire brigade and was involved in reinstating the rugby and sports club.

My priorities
  1. Resurrect community board powers and self-governance once enjoyed by previous board members.
  2. Ensure that parks and reserves are maintained and preserved for all to enjoy now and in the future.
  3. Maintain communities in a safe and secure environment that encourages well-being for all.
