Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board

The Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Ruapehu District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: five members elected by voters, and one member from the Ruapehu District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I am running because I believe Ruapehu deserves strong, transparent leadership that puts families and communities first. I have seen how poor decision-making and a lack of accountability can impact everyday lives, and I want to ensure ratepayer money is spent wisely. I am committed to making council more accessible, open and responsive so residents can trust their voices are heard and acted on.

About me

I have lived in the Ruapehu district and raised my family here. I understand the challenges our communities face. I have served on community board, worked with local organisations and know how to get things done. I believe in listening first, acting with integrity and making decisions that reflect the needs of residents. My background in business management and community service means I bring both practical skills and a strong sense of responsibility to the role.

My priorities
  1. Publish clear, easy-to-read reports so residents see where money goes. Transparency builds trust.
  2. Protect local control of water under the Water Done Well approach.
  3. Maintain and upgrade roads to keep communities connected.
