Waihōpai Toetoe Community Board

The Waihōpai Toetoe Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Southland District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: six members elected by voters, and one member from the Southland District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waihōpai Toetoe Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I am local and semi-retired and have strong opinions so can use the community board to put my opinion to the test. I would like the board to reflect the community's views and not have the top down telling us what to do.

About me

I have a lot of farming and business experience, have been involved in Young Farmers clubs, Federated Farmers and Share Milkers Association. I have lived and worked overseas for several years and with the help of Audible am very well read. I can listen well and detect nonsense equally as well.

My priorities
  1. Have the community board for the community, ie the community will feed to the council.
  2. Slow the council directing us and have us direct the council.
  3. Stop Local Government New Zealand forcing stupid unaffordable loans onto us for things we do not want or need.
