The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Engage residents in planning decisions by giving the community a genuine voice on zoning, housing design and local development priorities.

    Ensure responsible intensification by balancing growth with the character of existing neighbourhoods whilst protecting green spaces.

    Strengthen infrastructure planning to align housing growth with safe roads, reliable water systems and accessible community facilities.

  • Ensure new intensified housing provides the right mix for everyone from those who live solo to those who live in large families or groups.

    Prevent Greater Christchurch from sprawling endlessly across valuable agricultural land and ensure it has an efficient transport network.

    Recognise that cities worldwide that plan well for growth are great to live in and those that do not are not, so learn from the best.
